    ⛅ Climate of Brazil

Like we just said, Brazil is one of the biggest countries in the world, and the biggest one in South America. This means that defining the main climate of Brazil can be quite challenging.

Due to it’s incredible size, Brazil doesn’t have just one or two or three different climates, it has up to five total climates and subclimates, although they do have one main weather that reigns all across the country. It is exactly this reason that makes it so difficult to explain what kind of climates does Brazil have.

Whenever you think about Brazil, it is likely you think about the Cristo Redentor, the amazing beaches and an excruciating hot climate. And for the most part, that’s true, but not quite, at least not how you think it is.

Like we just said, Brazil has a total of five different weathers and subclimates all across the country, starting by a tropical weather, which reings in most of Brazil, from a Equatorial climate, all the way to a monsoon weather, tropical sabana and of course, warm desert climate.

It is worth to mention, these are just some of the main climates you can find in Brazil, however they are not the only ones, since there are at least four more subclimates to explore.

Now, to sum everything up: Brazil has one main climate, which is tropical, coexisting alongside other five main climates and many, many others subweathers going around the country.

🌨 When does it snow in Brazil?

We know, imagining snow in Brazil might be quite odd, especially when Brazil is very well known for its incredible beaches. However, it is true and it does happen, but not like you might actually imagined.

Like we just mentioned before, Brazil has many different weathers and subclimates, all happening at the same time in the same country; however, they, much like most countries in the world, go through all four seasons.

    • First comes spring, lasting from October to December.
    • Then comes summer time, from January to March.
    • Moving to autumn from April to June.
    • And last but not least, winter from July to September.

Brazil does experience four seasons, as many other countries in the world do; however, they don’t experience these seasons at the same time as the rest of the world.

Now, let’s talk about a very important season in Brazil, and any other country in the world: winter time. Now, Brazil does have winter time, but it might be quite different than you could believe.

There are some parts of Brazil that do get snow, however, this phenomenon does not happen in most of the country; as a matter of fact, most regions in Brazil don’t get snow at all, but we will talk about that later on.

    Does it snow in Brazil?

This means that yes, winter season happens, but not every region gets snow or freezing cold temperatures. Sure, the weather might get a bit colder and nice, but that’s not always the case.

Taking into consideration that winter time and snow season happen pretty much at the same time, you might be wondering, does it snow during Christmas time, then?

And the answer is no, it doesn’t. If you were paying close attention, you might have noticed that winter (and snow season) do not happen during the month of December, and therefore, it doesn’t snow during Christmas time in Brazil.

🌨 Where does it snow in Brazil?

If you are looking for snow in Brazil, you have to go to the south of the country, which is where you might be lucky enough to experience some snowfall; however, the rest of the country doesn’t experience snow at all.

Places like Santa Catarina and Rio Grande Do Sul often experience snowfall during the winter time, but other than that, don’t get your expectations too high, because you might not be able to find snow at all.

How much does it snow in Brazil?

As to how much does it snow in Brazil, the short answer is: not too much. But to give you a more precise type of answer, average snowfall in Brazil is around 4.2 (1.3 m) and 6.5 ft (2 m) of snowfall.

It isn’t too much snow during the year. But still, there’s some snowfall around, and when it does snow, Brazil just looks even more amazing, if that’s even possible at all.

    Skiing in Brazil

You might be wondering, but how can you ski around in Brazil if there’s not too much snow? Well, it turns out you can go skiing in the tropical country in Brazil, but not in the way you might think.

You see, there’s an artificial ski resort or park, called Ski Mountain Park, located in Sao Paulo. It’s a gigantic, one of a kind park that offers you the opportunity to ski in the middle of Brazil! How crazy is that?

And now that you know everything about the amazing climate of this huge country, are you ready to visit? Are you ready to experience some snow in Brazil?
