    Snow in Dallas?

Located about 258 miles from Galveston Bay, in the north of the state of Texas, Dallas, the city built along the Trinity River, exhibits, like most cities located in the southern plains of the United States, a humid subtropical climate (Köppen, [Cfa]) usually stable, except for the transition months (spring and autumn).

On average, out of every ten winter seasons, at least seven seasons exhibit snow accumulation in Dallas.

Likewise, being part of the vast region of the United States under the influence of Tornado Alley due to its low elevation and the warm and cold air currents to which it is exposed, Dallas has considerable overexposure to tornadoes and electrical storms. For this reason, it is not surprising that Dallas has such negligible snow level accumulation per year (about 4 cm per winter season).

Being a relatively large city (385.9 sq mi), Dallas exhibits variations in snow accumulation levels throughout its territory. For example, in 2009, about 3 inches of snow was recorded near the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

    The climate of Dallas

    DALLAS WEATHER

According to the Köppen climate classification, Dallas exhibits a humid subtropical climate (Cfa), with some continental characteristics in certain regions, throughout its nearly 386-mile land area.

The combination and dynamism of some climatological factors, such as air currents (warm and cold) and elevation, allow the development of certain continental zones within the humid subtropical climate typical of Dallas.

This type of climate is characteristic of the southern plains of the United States. Nevertheless, in the case of Dallas, and unlike other southern Texan cities such as Houston, being part of Tornado Alley, this city is much more vulnerable to the onslaught of tornadoes, hailstorms, and thunderstorms during the transition seasons (spring and autumn).

Dallas is a city prone to extreme weather conditions, not only because of the frequency with which tornadoes, hailstorms, and thunderstorms occur in the town but also because of its extreme temperatures.

The hottest months in Dallas are July and August, with an average temperature above 96 °F. On the contrary, the coldest month is January, with an average daytime temperature of 56.8 °F and a nighttime minimum temperature of 37.3 °F. F.

In summer, the high humidity levels lead to an oppressive thermal sensation and, of course, very high temperatures.

In contrast to summer temperatures, winter temperatures are typically much milder, though not cool enough to drop below freezing often. This weather phenomenon (frosts) only occurs about 26 nights per year in Dallas.
